v it's eight o'clock in the morning I overslept a bit can i make up for it? I should have made a to-do list my mind's distracting me from the important things pc hours fly by though I've tried to clip their wings and daylight savings doesn't buy me anything c i wish there were more time in a day 'cause then the stress would be farther away but still I'm grateful, no room to complain never spend a moment in vain with the time you got in a day v2 it's almost quarter to three now this facebook post is true focus is hard to do I finally made that to-do list crossed off a thing or two but now I need some food pc2 moments drive by while i sit in stop and go these distractions are construction in the road c (trumpet solo) v3 it's just about time for bed now my list is halfway done but i can't find the sun i'll make a list for tomorrow just add a thing or two to what I couldn't do today pc3 "cest la vie", another day is done for me tuesday i'll retry this productivity every day i'll race against the setting sun yearning for the day I'll say that i have won c

A Mouthful 03:54
v thank you for the invitation I'm sorry that I kept you waiting for me, little old me the sun reflects your warming kisses the stream shouts your forgiveness flowing to me, little old me c i just want to tel you that i'm grateful that you trust my frail soul makes me hopeful though i see my few words as so pitiful you inspire me to write a mouthful v2 just like sitting by a creek is never quiet your voice to me is never silent don't leave, don't ever leave fishing spiders leaping rock to rock in the stream crawfish in the crevices, I'm living a dream and it was all created for me chorus c2 when i sing my song to you i'm humbled knowing your perfection makes me want to mumble quietly though i see my few words as so pitiful you inspire me to write a mouthful b i want to linger within your love that scene's all that i've been dreaming of i'll do my best to show the world what i know of you so they'll come, they'll come into your presence, oh

(harmonica solo) c it can't be morning already the suns still asleep i've only slept six hours since the start of the week tripped over the dresser drawer bumped into the bathroom door, building up steam someone assure me this is a dream pc god if you love me you won't make me go through this day please, i'll do anything good days cannot start this way then your voice whispers "if you want rest, come to me" i drop to my knees, "thank you Jesus" in sorrow i'll still sing your praise and i sing... c haleluiah, you catch my tears when I cry and i sing haleluiah i walk through trials with you by my side when i feel down on my luck and my heart gets real soggy with life's rain and such my soul will boast in the Lord v2 second hand, can't you move faster? i'm done with this class this lecture is flogging my brain cells i probably won't even pass class lets out, i'm at the door can't take this anymore nobody dare talk to me where's my umbrella, its pouring why me? pc2 god if you love me you'll spare me the rest of this day please, i'll do anything just make the rain go away then your voice whispers "cast all your cares upon me" i drop to my knees "haleluiah" you sit with me in my pain and i sing chorus (harmonica solo) pc3 now i see since you love me i've gotta face some hard days you make my faith stronger mustard seeds grow in the rain when i face hardships i'll let my anchor sink deep and smile at the storm, "haleluiah" you are the god of the main and i sing chorus

Doodles 03:24
v1 truth is my momma loves to hear the guitar and plus her daddy made a band He toured all around the country Seemed to be quite the music man I'm not much of a player but I try to learn as best I can If God gave me a different gift I'll try to understand his plan v2 I learned the uke and the piano I learned the violin too I didn't get very far Cuz I had other things to do My momma said my doodles were the bestest when she saw what I drew Then I got to thinking I could probably be professional too (interlude) v3 She's sitting staring at her canvas Wondering what she should draw She paints a smoldering sunset Holds her Father in awe Cuz every scene that she would render Was a carbon copy of what she saw I said that every scene that she would render was a carbon copy of what she saw v4 She doesn't play the guitar much Her singing is sometimes off key But she maneuvers those sketch tools Like waves that toss a ship at sea I tell you she's not a composer but her pictures sound a symphony I tell you she's not a musician but her pictures sing so beautifully

Verse 1 ]If I become famous I'll set an example for social involvement ]When I have a following that's where I'll lead When I make my millions I'll give to a charity help out ]some orphans and people with needs But for now I'll just waste my influence and time. Chorus 1 Because I don't see the value in my status currently My freedom of speech has a limited reach And I'll never touch people out there Unless I can understand the few friends I have and the minutes of free time I find are perfectly useful for healing the world Bridge You always were so hard headed Always Always took a while to get it Your short-sight, in hindsight, is cross-eyed in one-sided faith My spirit is what makes the difference after you digest the word as written And realize that all that you need are the tools that you’ve got Verse 2 the millions or hundreds of thousands of minutes I'll have in my pocket Weigh two times the money when spent with intent My single opinion has proved influential in circles \where God’s love is seen in my life \and it’s all for His patience in trimming this tree Chorus 2 Now I see the value in my status currently My freedom of speech has unlimited reach To touch all those people out there It’s crazy I understand the few friends I have and the minutes of free time I find are perfectly useful for healing the world Chorus 3 Though we be collections of broken humanity Power to speak, love at its peak A catalyst he has prepared The crux of the gospel truth Is whether of not we’ll surrender ourselves to its use as perfectly useful for healing the world

The Best in Me v1 I can't begin to describe The change you make in my life You help me take a step back and analyze And choose a loving response When, to get even, I want And to resist temptation to taunt my brother pc1 And though today I slipped up alright I'll let you work your change in my mind As I fold my hands to pray c1 I really wanted to say You brought out the best in me today Every next is better than my previous phase My roots are sinking deeper into place Because of your grace v2 The way you teach me to share And help me be self-aware The wisdom of your methods inspires me I'll learn to see through your eyes Realizing I've been so blind To the results of living Christology pc2 And honestly I'll be okay If you use me for something plain Cuz you make little things so great c I really wanted to say You brought out the best in me today Every next is better than my previous phase My roots are sinking deeper into place Because of your grace And I get excited when I think of where I've come from 'cause I believe with all I am that you will make me pure and then some Submit, desist, just leave it at the altar \Breathe in, begin on your love-lit way Alt Chorus And you’ll begin to say He brought out the best in you today Every next is better than your previous phase Your roots are sinking deeper into place Because of his grace c And every day I’ll say You brought out the best in me today Every next is better than my previous phase My roots are sinking deeper into place Because of your grace Because of your grace Because of your grace

about

The last three years of my life have taught me so much about the value of perspective and reflection. During those years I lost my grandmother, graduated college, and started a family, among other things. The blessings and challenges brought by these milestones have really pulled me out of my selfish versions of spirituality and philosophy, so I figured I'd express that humble growth creatively.

This album is dedicated to my grandmother, Antoinette Bruce (11/25/1941 - 2/26/2018). She left such a deep impression on my life and philosophy because of the way she valued people and went out of her way to lift people up, regardless of the pain she bore. She was a 20 year cancer fighter, but you couldn't tell by her humor and smile. Her faith shone so clearly through her attitude. She really was a light in this dark world.

My greatest hope is that is hearing my musings and reflections, you are encouraged to step out of your familiar perspective and welcome the growth that follows.
